What funding options are available for Speech Therapy?

NDIS

NATIONAL DISABILITY INSURANCE SCHEME (NDIS)

The NDIS is a government funding scheme to support people witha permanent or significant disability or chronic health conditions that affects their ability to participate in daily activities. NDIS funds individuals aged 65-years and under who are eligible. To be eligible, you must be assessed.

We are currently able to provide services to NDIS participants whose fund is Plan-Managed or Self-managed.

Medicare

Medicare Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Plan

This is a Medicare program where anyone eligible for allied health services with a chronic medical condition will be able to  get Medicare rebate ($55.10 per session in 2021/2022 financial year) for up to 5 allied health services per calendar year.

You may want to get in contact with your GP and check if you or your child may be eligible. A chronic medical condition is a condition that persists and affects the individual for six months or longer.

 

If you are eligible, you will be referred by your GP under the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) plan with a CDM referral form

Private

Private Health Insurance

Depending on your policy and the level of extra covers, you may be eligible to claim Speech pathology services through your private health insurance.

As all health funds are different, we advise that you get in touch with your health fund before your first appointment. Your private health fund will be able to provide the relevant speech pathology codes for speech pathology services such as "initial individual consultation or assessment" and "subsequent individual consultation or assessment or treatment". Common item numbers are 310, 320, 330, 340...etc.
